The Cathedrae project was born in 2015 from the fascination for 20th century furniture design. The rationalism applied to the construction of each piece of furniture and its aesthetic and functional impact led us to investigate materials and artisan workshops where we could edit those creations that, from our honest admiration, we believe deserve a place in contemporary interiors.

Local craftsmanship

It was always clear to us that we could not mass-produce our pieces, since craftsmanship is the art of creating beautiful things through specialization, and no one is a master of everything.

Therefore, the different techniques we use, such as carpentry, bulrush work, stringing, polishing and varnishing, are worked in different workshops, located in Valencia, Girona and Barcelona, where artisans perform unrepeatable work and evoke the perfection of a craft that we hope will last through our editions.

The nobility of matter

Each piece speaks through its materials. We work with American and French oak, African teak and string made from seaweed from Asia. The beech wood and bulrush from the Albufera region are of Spanish origin.

We always claim the sincerity of our tribute, so the choice of raw material responds to the creative and quality criteria with which the original designs were conceived.

The essence

Our essence is to pay tribute to selected pieces of popular origin, reinterpreted through the eyes of an avant-garde designer and made with natural materials through artisanal processes.

We hope that this balance finds its expression in our editions, many of which are difficult to find today, and that their beauty becomes part of the aesthetic language of the 21st century.
